Modern society growth is proportional to available energy, so energy management is clearly critical to the development of society.  So how can it be that much of the world has reached the parlous state where it’s primary source of fuel for transport, oil, is running out?  And why are the many alternatives proving so problematic?  How come ‘supply and demand’ have got so out of sync?  And most importantly, how is this parlous situation going to be resolved?  A series of articles address these issues.
